WINNERS OF THE HOBAN OPEN

Another great event at the 2012 Hoban Memorial Open. For those of you who could not make it this year, you missed another excellent day. The event is hosted by the Hoban Family and we are all made to feel like we are special. John's wife Mary (middle of photo) always greets John's classmates with a special hug. Trust me, these guys have a lot to hug. And John's daughters treat us like we are royalty. The members of the class of '59 certainly appreciate all the attention. John would be very proud that his family has embraced the Roman family and put so much effort into organizing and running a GREAT tournament. Of course, financially they receive nothing. It all goes to RCHS!
It is obvious from the photo above who the real winners were!
Now for the story of the MELEE that occurred:
As the cart carying a couple of Hob's daughters pulled up to us (Jake, Cos, Vinny & JoeB),
They inquired "What's holding you guys up here?" Of course the reply came" It's those "old guys" in front of us. One of the girls replied: "They are in your class of '59." As we stood there pondering this comment Cos said: "Did you realize we "skipped" a few grades?" When we finally caught up with the group ahead of us, (Swiftie, George, Butch & anonymous) apparently, they took offense to the "old guys" remark. It became NASTY and took 17 minutes to restore order. Once The EMT's were able to stop all the bleeding we were able to complete the round. As we did you could hear the comments: "Vinny, put this one in his back pocket that will get him moving! JoeB, see if you can hit the top of their cart."
As for statistics we did finish 6 strokes under and that put us in 39th place as a foursome. That's not bad considering there were 44 total groups. Not sure how the other '59 group (those Old Guys) fared but they were not in the upper echelon as we were.We will return next year as we continue to improve our scores.
Besides we have a great time and love to see the SMILE on Mary's face!

Great comments on the day,just a"LITTLE STRETCH" of the facts. We had a great time as usual and with the gase of God we can do it again next year. Vince D.
