A GREAT WAY TO SPEND YOUR TIME

What have you guys been doing lately??

I am interested in what our classmates are doing in terms of volunteer work and if they would share that on the blog. As a start, I offer the attached picture of me helping on our 4th house for Habitat of Montgomery County Texas, which we are currently completing for dedication in July. The project is part of our parish's Outreach Ministry (St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish, The Woodlands, Texas) and is the 4th house we have constructed in the past 4 ears. We hope to be able to continue to do 1 house per year for a worthy family who might otherwise not be able to own their own home.

Paul; Not sure how to respond to the blog. I serve communion at Virtua Hospital in Marlton, NJ for our church St. Joan of Arc. Usually go in on saturday morning and spend a couple of hours visiting the catholics in the hospital and giving communion. Bob

Judi & I both volunteer with our Civil War living history group - The General George Meade Society - where we prepare & serve meals at their various activities. I also volunteer a lot down at the alumni house - mostly with Sports Hall of Fame stuff. Judi & I also do volunteer work for the American Lighthouse Foundation and tomorrow 6/20 we will be at Phila Seaport Museum researching early lighthouses along the Delaware River. In August we will be in Cutler, ME for their big fundraiser. I also belong to the Brewerytown Fairmount Cathedral & Schuylkill Navy Association and every December we go to Bethesda Naval Hospital and take part in the 'Wounded Warriors' project and visit wounded US Marines and bring them Philly CARE packages that include Tastykakes, soft pretzels & Phillies stuff. Judi just recently joined the US Coast Guard auxilliary. We do not mind being busy.

Turkey,
It's a shame you and Judi can't find anything to do with your free time! WOW! What a great itinerary. Keep it going. Now let's hear more from '59.

Tom, I also help with the Wounded Warriors program here in Denver. As a Vietnam vet, it's my way of saying "thank you" to my fellow brothers. I also serve on the committe for the "Battered Women Foundation" here in Denver.

You look pretty good on top of that ladder. With old age creeping up, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, let alone trying to hit the head of a nail with a hammer. Great project, keep it up.

Chalie...........Welcome Home!!! And way to go being involved with the 'Warriors & BWF....good stuff!!
Forgot to mention that one of the General Meade Society's functions is to replace the weather worn flags at vet's gravesites every year in various cemeteries preferably around the days preceding Memorial Day. We also do a ceremony on Memorial Day at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Ridge Ave.
