OUT-OF-TOWN CLASSMATES
We have made arrangements with the DoubleTree hotel in Plymouth Meeting for the evenings of Friday September 25, 2009 and Saturday September 26, 2009 for the fantastic rate of $104 per night, double.
This is an upscale hotel at Germantown Pike and Hickory Road, across from the Plymouth Meeting Mall and close to the Meadowlands CC.
Same rate is available for Thursday and Sunday nights, September 24 & 27, 2009 if you want to extend your stay.
Book early as there is a limited number of rooms available by calling 610-834--8300 and asking for the Roman Reunion Class of '59 rate.
The contact at the DoubleTree is Marie Grippo. Any questions e-mail Frank Peszka cpeszka2@verizon.net. We are planning a welcome reception at the hotel or close by for Friday evening; details to follow.
Hotel committee chaired by Frank Peszka: Thanks Frank!!

Paul & Alyce Dornisch will be staying at the Doubletree on Friday and Saturday evenings. Hope to see you there. The breakfast buffet is excellent. Of course, there is a Starbucks just around the corner, also!!!
A couple easy questions for a start : Who do we attribute the following quotes to : 1) "The doors of Roman only swing one way"........
2) "My mother always told me there would be days like this, but she didn't say there would be so many creeps around"........
3) "Close the windows, your just using the traffic as a shield for your noise".....
4) "Put everything away...we gonna' have a little quiz"......
4)
Good job Jake. Everything seems to be mentioned. Barbara and I will be coming in on Thursday and staying 3 nights. We will make an extended vacation but probably head up to NY as that is where her sister lives. Maybe a day trip to Wildwood to go to the "Seashell" for a banana split. The only thing I could think of was to stress to the classmates how important it is to try and give us some information on the missing classmates when they receive their letter.
Joe: the only answer I can come up with is for #3. Captain Eddy.
Peace !!
Alice and I will be staying at the Doubletree for the whole 4 nights -Thurs. thru Sunday.
Frank and Tina Gartland plan to join the fun
David Perry is listed in classmates.com and it provides an email address but no phone or street address.
I sent him emails regarding the reunion but have not received a response. Maybe someone else can get a response.
OK Joe. Thanks for telling me how this thing works.
I think #1 is Fr. Dolan (1st choice) or Iron Mike (2nd choice);#2 is Fr. Klein;#3 is Fr Brennan;and #4 is Knobby Walsh. I never claimed to have a good memory.
Answer to JWeb's ?: 1) Fr. "Spike" Dolan 2) Fr. M (Iron Mike) Maloney 3) Fr. E. (Cap'n Eddie) Baraniak 4) Fr. John Kline. I never failed (or is that passed?) a "Pop" quiz in all my days at RCHS. Well, maybe one!!
Frank & Tina Gartland are booked in the Double Tree for Thurs., Fri. & Sat. and we'll see you then.
Joe - I think #2 may have been Mr. DuFranye.
I'd like to share a John Slawek story that has been stored in some dark spot of my brain for the past 35 or 40 years. John was one of the toughest guy both mentally & physically that I ever played against and I believe this story is pretty accurate.
John Dinan '58 and I were remembering classmates & team mates over a beer & pizza one night and we discussed some of the old Cathedral "stompers", some Roman guys and some of our college buddies.
Dinan suddenly winced as if in pain and said something like "#**@ Slawek" and I didn't know what he was referring to so I asked "John or Pete?" Dinan said "John, of course."
Dinan proceded to say that he was headed for a Villanova td against West Chester when he was suddenly engulfed in a crushing bear hug, He looked at the West Chester tackler and discovered it was John Slawek, Dinan said to John,"get out of my way Slawek, I'm going in." Slawek responed, "you're not going anywhere Dinan."
Dinan then said to me, "and I didn't".
